This message has been issued because some minor flooding to riverside roads and footpaths is likely from 11:00pm tonight, Friday 24th February, and over the following hours into the early morning of Saturday 25th February. High water levels may last for a few days until the high tides at Great Yarmouth have passed. Areas most at risk are in Belton, Geldeston and Beccles. Roads likely to be affected include Station Road in Geldeston, the A145 and the A146 through Beccles, the A143 at Haddiscoe and St Olaves and the railway line at Haddiscoe. We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time. Take care on waterside roads and footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting it to escalate. We will update this message by 9am tomorrow, Saturday 25th February.

This message has been issued because there is a risk of flooding of homes and businesses through the evening and night of Monday 28th December, into Tuesday 29th December 2020. This is due to a natural tide-locking effect in the Norfolk Broads. Areas most at risk are in Belton, Geldeston and Beccles. Roads likely to be affected include Station Road in Geldeston, the A145 and the A146 through Beccles, the A143 at Haddiscoe and St Olaves, and the railway line at Haddiscoe. A combination of tide locking and high fluvial flows into the broads will see continued high water levels around high water this evening and into Tuesday 29th December. These high levels are expected continue for the next few days. It is likely that we may need to issue more warning messages for a wider area, over the next few hours. Be ready to take action to protect your property if flooding is expected. We are monitoring the situation and will update this message as necessary.
