River Aire
River levels on the Lower Aire have started to fall. Levels in West Marsh washlands are still elevated but have also started to fall. The washland will continue to drain as the River Aire levels fall. Further wintry showers are forecast over the next few days, but we do not expect these to have an impact on river levels. We continue to monitor the situation and our incident response staff have checked defences in the area. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near washlands, and be prepared to act on your flood plan. This message will be updated at 08:00, 10/02/2021 or as the situation changes.

River levels on the Lower Aire have started to fall. Levels in West Marsh washlands are still elevated but have also started to fall. The washland will continue to drain as the River Aire levels fall. Further wintry showers are forecast over the next few days, but we do not expect these to have an impact on river levels. River levels have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall yesterday (Saturday, 06/02/21). Consequently, the washlands have been filling and flooding of property, roads and farmland remains possible this evening and overnight (Sunday, 07/02/21). Areas most at risk are Hirst Marsh and West Marsh. Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours but we do not expect this to have an impact on levels. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are in the area and checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Consequently, the washlands have been filling and flooding of property/roads and farmland is possible from 10.30 today, 07/02/21. Areas most at risk are Hirst Marsh and West Marsh.
