Flood Warning issued on 29 Dec 2020 11:51
River Nene, River Ise
Heavy rain has fallen on the River Nene catchment over the last week causing rivers levels to rise, and Northampton Washlands to store water. The Northampton Washlands are now emptying and the water levels have peaked upstream but continue to remain high along the main stretch of the River Nene. The rising river levels have caused flooding of low lying land and roads, and we are expecting properties and villages in and around Wellingborough, to continue to be affected throughout today, Tuesday, 29th December and for the next couple of days. Low lying properties near the river are most at risk. Stay safe, and be aware of your local surroundings. Avoid riverside paths and please stay away from river embankments and flood water. We are monitoring the situation, and have staff in the area checking flood defences, clearing blockages, and assisting the Emergency Services and Council. This message will be updated again on Wednesday, 30th December, or as the situation changes.
