Heavy rain has fallen in the Nene catchment causing Harpers Brook to rise. Further rain is forecast tomorrow, Wednesday 27th November. Levels are expected to remain high for several days. Low lying areas near to the river are already flooded and we expect properties to be affected. Low lying properties near the river on main street in Sudborough are expected to be affected first. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the emergency services and council. This is causing the Brook to rise, and is forecast to continue to rise through tonight and into tomorrow. Low lying areas near to Harpers Brook are already flooded, and we now expect properties to be affected from early evening onwards. Properties on Main Street in Sudborough are expected to be affected first. The rainfall associated with Storm Henk has mostly fallen, but river levels will continue to rise overnight. Heavy rain has fallen across Harpers Brook catchment over the past few days. As a result river levels have risen and remain high, affecting the Brigstock to Sudborough area. We anticipate the levels to gradually reduce tomorrow (Friday, 25th December) and be able to remove this warning during the day. Stay safe, be and aware of your local surroundings. Avoid riverside paths and please stay away from river embankments and flood water. We are monitoring the situation, and have staff in the area checking flood defences, clearing blockages, and assisting the emergency services and council. Heavy rain has fallen on the Harpers Brook catchment today and is expected to continue into the early hours of tomorrow morning, Thursday, 24th December. The rising river levels have already caused flooding of low lying land and roads in and around Brigstock and Sudborough and due to the deteriorating weather we now expect properties in the area to be affected from this evening (23rd Dec) onwards. Low lying properties near the river are most at risk. The river is forecast to continue to rise and peak overnight. The impacts are likely to last until tomorrow and improve thereafter.
