Strong westerly winds combined with high spring tides means that there is a risk of wave overtopping and hazardous conditions at the Churchill Barriers over several days this week. Difficult driving conditions and road closures are possible around the times of the high tides throughout Wednesday and Thursday.

Conditions could be difficult throughout Wednesday daytime with unpredictable waves and then late Wednesday evening between 9.00 PM and 1.00 AM. Risk is highest at Barrier numbers 1 and 3.
Strong westerly winds are expected to continue then move round to the north later on Thursday. There will be a possibility of wave impacts during any of the high tides from now until Thursday as wind and wave conditions vary.

On Wednesday, the highest risk is over the morning high tide around 11.00 am but conditions could be difficult throughout Wednesday daytime with unpredictable waves. Late Wednesday evening between 9.00 PM and 1.00 AM could also be affected, particularly at Barrier numbers 1 and 3.

A combination of high tides and strong south westerly winds mean that there is a risk of wave overtopping and hazardous conditions at the Churchill Barriers on Tuesday 7th January and Wednesday 8th January.
The risk is particularly high around the period two hours either side of the high tide at 16.30 GMT and 21.30 GMT for Tuesday 7th January and 04.30 GMT and 10.45 GMT for Wednesday 8th January. Conditions will lessen during low water but winds will remain high and some disruption may be experienced between Tuesday and Wednesdays high tides.
