Further heavy rain overnight will cause levels in the River Cale to rise and is expected to peak around midnight at Wincanton. Low lying farmland and some roads will flood. The level at the Wincanton A303 gauge is forecast to reach 1.7m above river bed level. Our staff are closely monitoring the situation and will update this message as the situation develops overnight. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 6 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour. Further persistent rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences.
