Heavy rain is forecast throughout Sunday. Further flooding is expected on Sunday afternoon and into the early evening, with a peak level expected around 8pm. We are closely monitoring rainfall and river levels and we are checking watercourses for blockages. Act on your flood plan if you have one. Low lying land is expected to be most affected, particularly around the River Parrett downstream of Gawbridge, the A356 at Chiselborough, the Norton Sub Hamdon to Stratton road and Parrett Works near Martock. The forecast is predominantly dry for the remainder of Sunday, however river levels are expected to remain high as water makes its way down through the system. Further rainfall is forecast over the next few hours, but this is expected to clear the area by midnight. The river level at the Chiselborough gauge is forecast to begin falling after this time. The forecast for Friday is mostly dry with possible light showers, and the weekend is forecast to be generally dry.
