The River Sheppey is rising quickly and river levels are expected to cause flooding this morning. Flooding is expected from 6:15 AM on 19/10/2024.
Areas most at risk include the area around Charlton Viaduct, the Cider Factory and Draycott Road in Shepton Mallet and the area around Jack's Bridge in Croscombe.
Weather conditions are expected to improve throughout Saturday morning, and no further flooding is expected once this peak passes. We are closely monitoring rainfall and river levels.

River levels are rising on the River Sheppey due to heavy rainfall today. This Flood Warning has been issued because flooding is expected from around 5PM today, 23/09/2024. Areas most at risk include the area around Charlton Viaduct, the Cider Factory and Draycott Road in Shepton Mallet, and the area around Jack’s Bridge in Croscombe. Residents are strongly urged to take action now.
Start acting on your flood plan if you have one, and consider activating any property flood protection products you may have. We are continually monitoring rainfall and river levels, and staff have been out checking rivers and weed screens in the area for blockages. The river levels on the River Sheppey have started to rise in response to the rainfall this morning but are still below the midday peak yesterday. Further rainfall showers, heavy at times, are forecast during Thursday and into Friday. This flood warning remains in force as a precaution as the river may reach levels of concern during Thursday afternoon.
Areas most at risk include the area around Charlton Viaduct, the Cider Factory and Draycott Road in Shepton Mallet, and the area around Jack’s Bridge in Croscombe.
We will continue to monitor the rainfall and river levels closely and are checking weed screens and rivers for blockages. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and aware of the situation. The river levels have now fallen on the River Sheppey as a result of the drier weather during Wednesday afternoon and evening. The current risk of flooding has now past, but this flood warning remains in force as a precaution. A band of rainfall is forecast from around 4AM tomorrow morning and showers are possible throughout the day. The river is likely to rise again and may cause further flooding early Thursday morning onwards.
Areas most at risk include the area around Charlton Viaduct, the Cider Factory and Draycott Road in Shepton Mallet, and the area around Jack’s Bridge in Croscombe.

Areas most at risk include the area around Charlton Viaduct, the Cider Factory and Draycott Road in Shepton Mallet, and the area around Jack’s Bridge in Croscombe. Flooding is possible from 11:15 AM onwards.
Rainfall is forecast to last until around 5 PM today, Wednesday 21/02/2024, and river levels are forecast to rise this morning. Further rainfall is also forecast early on Thursday morning. We will continue to monitor levels closely.

River levels are rising rapidly on the River Sheppey due to heavy rainfall.
Flooding is expected to affect the area around Charlton Viaduct, the Cider Factory and Draycott Road in Shepton Mallet and the area around Jack’s Bridge in Croscombe. from 6:30 PM tonight.
Further rainfall is forecast this evening, but this should clear the area by midnight. Friday and the weekend are forecast to be largely dry.
We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely and incident response staff have been checking rivers in the area for blockages.
