River levels have risen rapidly as a result of the ground being saturated and reacting to last nights rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and property is forecast today. Flood water could be deep and fast flowing and consider installing property flood resilience as river levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the road at The Batch and Streamleaze.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are in contact with community flood wardens and volunteers and clearing weed screens.

The Winford Brook river level has been falling during Sunday afternoon 13/10/2019 since peaking this morning. However, though little rain is forecast overnight a further frontal rain may feed north across the region during Monday afternoon 14/10/19, from about 13:00 hours onwards, some of which may be heavy, it will clear northwards over Monday night. There is some uncertainty in the exact track of the intense bursts. As we expect river levels to rise again during Monday afternoon and evening on, 14/10/2019 this flood warning has been updated and remains in force. In addition, further potentially heavy rain is currently forecast for Wednesday 16/10/2019. In the meantime we will closely monitor the situation and maintain contact with the Chew Valley Flood Forum. The Winford Brook river level has been falling during the afternoon of 12/10/2019. However, further rain is forecast this evening between 21:30 and 02:30 hours. There may be some periods of locally heavy rain but there is uncertainty on the exact locations of these intense bursts. We expect the river level to rise again during Sunday 13/10/2019. For this reason, and following a telephone conversation with your Chew Valley Flood Forum community lead, we are keeping this flood warning in place for now. There is a further significant band of rain due later on Monday 14/10/2019 and through Tuesday. We will have further information on this on Sunday morning and in the meantime we will be monitoring the situation and keeping in close contact with the Chew Valley Flood Forum. Further update will follow on Sunday afternoon but we will keep this flood warning updated if the situation changes.

There has been an intense period of rainfall overnight on Friday 11/10/2019. Rivers responded rapidly and the Winford Brook at Chew Magna has risen quite sharply and is now dropping back to below flood warning levels, however further rain is forecast later this evening (12/10/19) between 21:30 and 02:30, which maybe locally heavy there is currently some uncertainty regarding exact location of the intensive bursts . So we expect river levels to rise again into Sunday.13/10/19. We are monitoring the situation and will provide update later today around 16:00 or earlier if conditions change.

River levels on the Winford Brook peaked earlier this morning on Friday 11/10/2019 and will remain high with further forecast persistent heavy rainfall between 13:30 and 18:00 today. Consequently flooding is forecast to affect the road at The Batch and could affect adjacent low lying properties from around mid afternoon today. Following this afternoon's heavy rainfalll lighter rain will continue through until tomorrow morning Saturday 12/10/2019 with an associated fall in the river levels.

Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours, with more rain expected on Friday. We expect river levels to begin falling at 22:00 on 09/10/19.
