High spring tides combined with a tidal surge and strong winds may lead to overtopping of sea defences. However, the forecast tide height is predicted to be lower than those reached on Wednesday evening. Forecast high water is 21:00 on 12/03/20 with a level of 7.19 mAOD and a Force 7 Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Hinkley, and mAOD means height above average sea level. There is the possibility of flooding to the most vulnerable seafront properties at these times on the promenade, including the Grand Pier, Seaquarium and other seafront properties, and the Marine Lake area, including Knightstone Island and Knightstone Causeway. This flood warning is not expected for any future tides but a flood alert may remain in force. We are closely monitoring the situation and we have operational gangs on the ground to monitor the tides and any impacts. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads.
