River levels have now peaked at the Cannington river gauge following the rainfall this morning and are now falling but still remain high. There is still a risk of flooding of roads and farmland. There is the possibility of further showers before more dry weather later this afternoon and for tomorrow, Friday 06/03/20. We continue to monitor the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. The River Yeo level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 7.71 m and is stable. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 7.24 m and is stable. Flooding will affect the road from Langport to Muchelney when this level exceeds 7.30 m, and the road from Muchelney to Long load if this level exceeds 7.86 m. We are currently pumping at Huish Episcopi pumping station. Further showers are forecast to continue this morning and into the early afternoon before becoming drier for the rest of Thursday and into Friday, and we expect river levels to continue falling during this time. We are monitoring this situation closely. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads which may be flooded. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is now possible and will remain a risk throughout today, 05/03/20. Rainfall is forecast to continue until around midday today and river levels are likely to remain high during this afternoon. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. River levels have risen at the Pen Mill river gauge as a result of last night's heavy rainfall. Windy conditions and further wintry showers are forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Consequently, flooding of roads and low lying land is possible today, 29/02/2020. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of the runway, the Mudford to Limington road, and the road at the south end of Westover Trading Estate. Properties at Westover Trading Estate at Langport are at risk. Bankfull conditions are forecast at Ilchester and water will reach the bottom of the ringbanks at Ilchester Meads and Ilchester. We are closely monitoring the situation, and our incident response staff are out clearing weed screens and checking flood defences. Properties at Westover Trading Estate at Langport are at risk. Bankfull conditions are forecast at Ilchester and water will reach the bottom of the ringbanks at Ilchester Meads and Ilchester. We expect river levels to remain high throughout Saturday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are out clearing weed screens and checking flood defences. River levels have risen at the Pen Mill river gauge as a result of the rainfall overnight and this morning. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected between 01:30 pm and 05:00 pm today, 13/10/19. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of the runway, the Mudford to Limington road and the road at the south end of Westover Trading Estate. Properties at Westover Trading Estate and Hainbury Mill at Ilchester are at risk. Bankfull conditions are forecast at Ilchester and water will reach the bottom of the ringbanks at Ilchester Meads and Ilchester. We expect river levels to remain high until at least 05:00 pm on 13/10/19. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Widespread frontal rain has fallen overnight with some heavy showers forecast to follow throughout today. River levels on the Rivers Yeo and Parrett are rising and predicted to continue to rise in response to the rainfall. High river levels and some out-of-bank conditions are expected throughout the catchment today. Flooding may affect roads including the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of the runway, the Mudford to Limington road and the road at the south end of Westover Trading Estate. Bankfull conditions are expected at Ilchester and water could reach the bottom of the ringbanks at Ilchester Meads and Ilchester. The Environment Agency has checked screens and channels to reduce the risk of flooding, and we are pumping when possible and needed. The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station is fluctuating around 5.55 m. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is fluctuating around 6 m.

Following the rain today, Tuesday 18/12/2018, the rivers rose in the upper catchments and reached flood alert level. The rain has generally passed through the area. The river water is now working its way down to the Moors and Levels. The level on the Yeo at Pen Mill is rising and is forecast to reach flood alert level this evening. The level of the Yeo at Ilchester is forecast to get close to alert level tomorrow morning. The River Parrett at Langport Westover is rising and is likely to peak tomorrow morning. The Cannington Brook has recently peaked below alert level and is beginning to fall. The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station is 5.55 m and stable. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 6.04 m and rising slowly. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road if this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road if this level exceeds 7.93 m. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message tomorrow.

River levels on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester, River Parrett at Langport Westover and Cannington Brook at Cannington are falling following the rain earlier in the week but are expected to rise later this evening in response to the forecast rainfall. The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station is 6.76 m and is stable. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 7.27 m and is stable. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m.

The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station has been lowered to its normal winter level; with the pump running when needed. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station continues to fall as we pump water out of the moors and into the river. Some showers are due today. However river levels are stable and we expect to have pumped water out of the remaining moors to normal winter drain levels by tomorrow. We shall update this flood alert as soon as the situation changes.

The drain level at Langport Westover pumping station has been lowered to its normal winter level of 5.52 m; with the pump running when needed. The River Parrett level there is also falling. And likewise the drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is also falling, currently at 6.61 m. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m. Some further rain or showers (up to 5 mm) are due today. River levels are stable on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester and the Cannington Brook at Cannington. However this flood alert shall remain until the water is pumped out of the remaining moors around Midelney and Huish Episcopi, where we are currently operating our pumping stations. We shall update this flood alert as soon as the situation changes.

Heavy rain, at least 10 to 15 mm , is forecast overnight into Sunday. River levels are rising in response on the River Yeo at Pen Mill, River Yeo at Ilchester, River Parrett at Langport Westover and the Cannington Brook at Cannington. We are pumping at Westover, Huish Episcopi, Long Load and Midelney pumping stations. Therefore the drain level is falling at Langport Westover pumping station, currently at 5.62 m. And likewise the drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is also falling, currently at 6.72 m. Flooding will affect the Langport to Muchelney road when this level exceeds 7.30 m and the Muchelney to Thorney road when this level exceeds 7.93 m. And further bands of rain are expected into the new year. We shall update this message on Sunday morning or when the situation changes.
