The heavy and persistent rainfall experienced in the early hours of Saturday morning is now beginning to clear the area, with wintry showers to follow throughout the day. The ground in many areas is totally saturated and the rainfall has caused the River Axe to rise, which will remain high throughout Saturday. River levels are forecast to peak upstream at approximately midday on Saturday. Properties and low lying areas around Chard Junction area, including the Three Counties Public House, Creamery and Broad Bridge areas Broom, Wadbrook, Axe Farm and the Weycroft area, including Coaxden Cottages, Weycroft Mill and properties on the A358 around Weycroft Bridge, the B3165 at Mosterton and Clapton will start to flood first. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings.

This has caused the River Axe to rise and the river is forecast to continue rising through the night. Particular locations at risk include: Chard Junction - including the Three Counties Public House, Creamery and Broad Bridge areas Broom, Wadbrook, Axe Farm Weycroft B3165 at Mosterton and Clapton will start to flood first. River levels will be at their highest tonight between 9.30pm to 10.30pm and will peak again between 6.00am and 9.00am on Thursday. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings.
