Flooding is expected on Saturday 29th February. The heavy and persistent rainfall experienced in the early hours of Saturday morning has now cleared the area, with wintry showers to follow throughout the day. The ground in many areas is totally saturated and the rainfall has caused rivers to rise and they are expected to remain high throughout Saturday. Flooding to low lying land and roads is still expected, and flood waters may be deep and fast flowing within this area. River levels have begun to stabilise and are slowly beginning to fall in upstream locations. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Heavy rain is forecast from the early hours of tomorrow morning, Saturday 2nd November, which will last throughout the day. This is likely to be widespread and persistent with the potential for surface water and river flooding throughout Saturday. Widespread totals of around 20-40mm of rain are expected. There is potential for localised totals of up to 80mm particularly on higher ground. The forecast is unclear on the precise location of these areas in Devon. Catchments are already wet from recent wet weather and are likely to react quickly to further rainfall. This will be accompanied by strong westerly winds which could lead to significant leaf fall, contributing to increased flood risk due to blocked drainage gullies. The Met Office have issued an Amber weather warning for rain for this area during this time. We expect smaller rivers and their tributaries to react quickly to this rainfall causing localised flooding in some areas. There is also likely to be significant surface water flooding in some areas. River levels have now receded across much of the Rivers Otter and Sid, and Exmouth area following heavy rainfall earlier over the last few days. Further rainfall is expected this afternoon and will leave the area by the afternoon of Monday 12th March. River levels will rise again in response to this rain, and will remain high. Peak levels are expected overnight tonight into Monday morning. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected. Further showers are predicted throughout Monday morning and Wednesday next week. Rivers have responded to a band of heavy rainfall overnight last night. Further rainfall is forecast for today, maintaining these high river levels throughout the day. Flooding to low-lying land and roads is expected. Further showers are expected throughout the weekend into the early part of next week, some of which may be heavy. River levels are likely to remain high throughout this period. Please take care and monitor your local weather conditions. Over the last 24 hours we have seen prolonged rainfall in the River Otter, River Sid and Exmouth areas. River levels are rising. Flooding to low lying areas is possible on the evening of Friday 9th March, with river levels remaining high into the early morning of Saturday 10th March. Rain showers are currently forecast over the next few days. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages in this location. This message will be updated when the situation changes.

Low lying land and roads are expected to flood, owners of vulnerable properties should take action to protect themselves and property. Flooding is possible on Tuesday morning. Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the area. The River Otter is now rising. There will be localised riverside flooding including the River Tale and Tipton Stream. Other low lying land and roads close to rivers could also be affected. We expect the river to remain high throughout today though no flooding to properties is forecast and warnings are not expected to be issued. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. There is a band of unsettled weather forecast to cross the area during Tuesday evening. Flooding is possible. Catchments are saturated after yesterday’s rainfall. We expect rivers to remain high throughout the rest of Boxing Day and throughout the night, though no flooding to properties is forecast and warnings are not currently expected to be issued.
