The River Don peaked at 12 noon today at Kirk Bramwith and has been steadily falling since following yesterday’s persistent heavy rainfall. Despite unsettled weather expected overnight tonight, Wednesday 3rd January 2024, we expect no significant further river response and levels are expected to steadily fall through the rest of the week. We will be closely monitoring the forecasts and river levels.
Please put your flood plan into action and take care when near washlands and low-lying land, which could be flooded. Avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses, and do not drive through floodwater.

The river Don is currently peaking at Kirk Bramwith following yesterday’s persistent heavy rainfall. River levels will remain high on the Lower Don catchment today but are now falling upstream at Doncaster. Once the peak has passed at Kirk Bramwith, levels are expected to gradually fall throughout the day today, 03/01/2024, and tomorrow.
Despite further unsettled weather over the coming days, with showers at times, no significant further river response is forecast and levels are expected to steadily fall through the rest of the week. We will be closely monitoring the forecasts and river levels.

While the current overall risk is greatly reduced, further rainfall is forecast today, 24/10/2023. As such, we expect river levels to begin to respond and rise again during the afternoon and into the evening, peaking in the early hours of Wednesday 25/10/23. Throughout Monday and into the early hours of Tuesday, 24/10/23, river levels on the River Don have been falling. While the current overall flood risk is greatly reduced, further rainfall is forecast throughout Tuesday 24/10/23. As a result, we expect river levels to begin to respond and rise again during Tuesday afternoon and into the evening.

Low lying land is expected to be the most affected, particularly around Crosshills including Station Road and Oakhead Terrace to the west and Airedale Trading Park and Skelton Industrial Park to the east.

River levels are rising at Kirk Bramwith as a result of persistent heavy rainfall moving downstream. Consequently, flooding of property is possible between midnight tonight, Sunday 20/02/2022, and into tomorrow, Monday 21/02/2022. Areas most at risk are properties in Thorpe in Balne. No significant rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours and we expect river levels to continue to slowly rise until the early afternoon, Monday 21/02/2022, when they will then be able to slowly start to fall. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast.

This warning remains in force due to the high spring tides this morning, 10/02/20, combined with impacts from Storm Ciara. Levels are currently peaking at Kirk Bramwith and will continue to slowly fall throughout the day. Because levels are now falling, the risk of property flooding has reduced.
Whilst further scattered showers are forecast throughout the rest of today, 10/02/20, we do not anticipate a significant river level response from this.

This warning is being issued in anticipation of the high spring tides this morning, 10/02/20, combined with impacts from Storm Ciara. These tides may see levels rise to the height of the barrier banks in this area, and as a precaution while we mobilise field teams to inspect the site, we are issuing this warning.
If inspections show that river levels are expected to overtop, we will re-issue this warning to ensure everyone is informed of the need to take action. For now, please prepare to act on your flood plan: we believe the likelihood is low.
