Water levels in Whiston Brook (south-east of Rotherham) have risen in response to rainfall today, 2nd January. Rainfall is expected to continue into this evening. Please put your flood plan into action and take care when near washlands and low-lying land, which will be flooded. Avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses, and do not drive through floodwater.

Flooding is forecast to affect areas adjacent to Whiston Brook this morning, particularly Moorhouse Lane Road in Whiston. Rainfall is expected throughout this evening, 20th October 2023 and into tomorrow, 21st October 2023, and river levels are expected to remain high.

River levels remain high but are now falling following persistent heavy rainfall due to Storm Ciara. Whilst further showers are forecast throughout today, 10/02/20, we do not expect these to cause significant impacts to river levels, which should continue to fall. Consequently we expect the risk of flooding to reduce throughout the day, and will review the continuing need for this warning once the river drops below levels of concern.

Whiston Brook peaked at 8pm on Thursday and has been falling since. There is no further significant rainfall forecast and levels will continue to fall through Friday morning (15th November).

River levels at Whiston Brook have risen as a result of this evening’s heavy rainfall. Areas most at risk are Moorhouse Lane. River levels are not however expected to reach heights seen last week (7/11/2019).
Rotherham council have left sandbags for collection at The Golden Ball Pub car park, Turner Lane, S60 4HY and The Sitwell Arms Pub, Pleasley Road, S60 4HQ.
