River levels are now falling in the Middle River Don catchment, but remain high, particularly between Kilnhurst and Sprotbrough. Washlands are expected to be flooded. The River Don at Sprotbrough peaked at around 6am this morning, Wednesday 03/01/2024. Despite further unsettled weather on Wednesday and Thursday, with showers at times, levels on the Middle Don should fall through the day today.
We will continue to monitor levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 19:00 on 03/01/2024, or as the situation changes.

River levels are rising in the Middle River Don catchment, particularly around Rotherham and Kilnhurst where flooding is possible. Levels are expected to peak at around 9pm tonight, Tuesday 2/1/24, but are then likely to fall during the night. Washlands are expected to be flooded. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. River levels on the Middle River Don have fallen after last nights rain, but are expected to increase once again following another band of rain forecast for tonight, 10/12/2023. Therefore, this Flood Alert remains in force. Areas most at risk include The River Don in Sheffield from Lady’s Bridge in Sheffield City Centre to Meadowhall.
Levels are expected to rise again at around 8 PM tonight, 10/12/2023, with a peak in Rotherham around 3:00 to 5:00 AM on Monday morning. We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. There are further bands of rain forecast mid-morning and this evening which will see levels increase again tonight, however they are not forecast to reach as high as last night. River levels are forecast to rise on the River Don due to widespread rainfall today, Saturday 09/12/2023.
Areas most at risk include The River Don in Sheffield from Lady’s Bridge in Sheffield City Centre to Meadowhall.
Flooding is possible from 9 PM to 5 AM on 09/12/2023-10/12/2023, with a peak at 1 AM 10/12/2023. Further rainfall is forecast overnight with weather remaining unsettled throughout the rest of the weekend.

River levels are now falling and will continue to fall through the night and into tomorrow, 18/11/22. We are closely monitoring the situation. No further rainfall is currently forecast overnight or tomorrow. We therefore plan to remove this flood alert in the morning.

River levels have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall through today. Consequently, flooding of roads and low-lying land is expected this afternoon and into this evening, 17/11/22. Areas most at risk are low-lying land and roads. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point, however there may be surface water issues locally.
Rainfall is expected to become less heavy this evening and overnight. We currently expect the River Don to peak this evening, around 18:00 through Sheffield and around 20:00 through Rotherham, before starting to fall later this evening and overnight.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and clearing weed screens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.

No further significant rainfall is forecast in the next 24hours and river levels are expected to fall throughout today (21/02/2022). River levels have risen as a result of persistent (heavy) rainfall overnight and this morning, Sunday 20th February. Due to the saturated conditions and thawing of any lying snow, river levels are likely to be particularly high throughout today. We are monitoring the situation closely on a 24 hour basis and will issue flood warnings if properties and parts of communities are expected to flood. Further rain is forecast and we currently expect river levels to peak again from 6pm today, 20/02/2022, and remain high overnight into Monday. Areas most at risk initially are low lying land and roads.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Consider taking appropriate steps to prepare for possible flooding, such as moving things upstairs and getting flood protection equipment ready to put in place.

Due to the saturated conditions and thawing of any lying snow, rivers will respond readily to this rainfall and are likely to be particularly high through the afternoon, evening and overnight into Monday.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will issue flood warnings if properties and parts of communities are expected to flood. We currently expect to see river levels peak in Rotherham late evening Sunday. Areas most at risk initially are low lying land and roads.

Rainfall associated with Storm Dennis is forecast to intensify from this afternoon, 15 February 2020 across the River Don catchment. The current forecast indicates that the river response will continue to rise throughout this evening and is likely to peak in the early hours of Sunday morning, 16 February. Areas most at risk are Firth Rixson, Rotherham & Sheffield canal Association, Denaby, Old Denaby, Sprotborough and the washlands at Kilnhurst.
We have staff in the field and are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room. If you observe flood waters, please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near watercourses.
