Car Brook
This afternoon’s heavy rainfall is causing watercourses in the Carr Brook catchment to respond. Areas most at risk are low-lying land, roads and footpaths close to small rivers and streams. Water levels could rise rapidly and potentially generate deep, fast flows. We could also see some surface water impacts, particularly in urban areas that experience the most intense bursts of rain. Thunderstorms and further unsettled weather are also forecast on Sunday and Monday, with low confidence over exact timing and locations. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 20:40 this evening 19/07/2025, or as the situation changes.

There are heavy localised showers in and around the Sheffield area. The showery weather is forecast to continue for a couple of hours. As a result we are seeing a response in some of the smaller watercourses with levels rising, sometimes rapidly. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible from 21:00 today, 16/08/2022. Areas most at risk are Parkland and sports fields which are expected to flood. There is also a risk form localised flooding due to surface water. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please do not walk or drive through flood water and be aware rivers could rise very quickly even if it's not raining where you are. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 17/08/2022, or as the situation changes.
