The River Stour is reacting quickly and rising sharply in response to the rainfall today. Areas most at risk are riverside properties in Haverhill and Sturmer, and the A1307 and A143. The weather forecast is for some further rain later this evening which may keep the river levels high. The weather forecast is improving, and we expect levels to start returning to normal soon. Take care on riverside footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate. We will update this message by 10am tomorrow, Monday 26th July.

This message has been issued because flooding of homes and businesses is likely through today, Thursday 14th January 2021. River levels are beginning to drop, and should continue to do so through tonight as the rain clears the area. Areas most at risk are riverside properties in Haverhill and Sturmer, and the A1307 and A143. The forecast is for more settled weather tomorrow which should allow levels to drop back down closer to normal levels for the time of year. More rain is however expected Saturday. Flood water is dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk. We are monitoring the situation, and will update this message by 09:00, Friday 15th January 2021.

River levels are high and expected to continue to rise in response to the rainfall. Areas most at risk are riverside properties in Haverhill and Sturmer, and the A1307 and A143. It is likely that we may need to issue more warning messages for a wider area, over the next few hours. The forecast is for persistent rain this morning and into the afternoon, more settled on Friday but further rainfall on Saturday. Flood water is dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk. We are not expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages for this area at this time. The forecast is for very localised heavy showers and thunderstorms, which makes it very difficult to pinpoint. Be ready to take action to protect your property if flooding is expected.
