Groundwater

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible from 17 February 2026.  Groundwater levels are currently slowly declining but remain high at our Frith Cottage borehole near the Godalming, Shackleford and Hambledon areas. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year, and saturated ground means groundwater may rise to a level where communities are affected by groundwater flooding if we receive additional rainfall. We expect groundwater levels to remain high over the next few weeks due to sustained rainfall across the area. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.  We are closely monitoring the situation .  Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed .  This message will be updated by 8:00PM on 24 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
