Property flooding is possible. River levels are forecast to remain high this evening 17/02/2020 and overnight into tomorrow 18/02/2020 on the River Wey as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Flooding of roads and farmland is expected and flooding of properties close to the river is possible, especially in the Guildford area.
Our Operational staff have deployed temporary barriers at Godalming and Guildford to help protect properties in these areas. Catteshall Road in Godalming and St Mary Road, Leas Road and William Road in Guildford will be affected by these deployments. Light showers are forecast for the next 48 hours, and we expect river levels to continue to rise.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our response staff are in the area clearing trash screens and checking defences. Please refer to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning 18/02/2020, or as the situation changes.
