Flood Warning issued on 16 Mar 2018 11:03
River Tyne
This warning is in place for the high tide in the Tyne Estuary at 3pm today (Friday 16th March). This warning principally relates to properties at Dolphin Quay where flooding is possible between 3pm and 5pm, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Large waves and spray are likely, so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on roads between Low Lights Promenade and the Western Quay. Do not drive through flood water or large waves. Adverse coastal conditions are currently forecast for the high tides on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. We are continuing to monitor the situation. This message will be updated by 10am on Saturday 17th March or earlier if the situation changes.

Flood Warning issued on 2 Mar 2018 19:07
River Tyne
The warning for the Tyne Estuary at North Shields, South Shields and Howdon Pans will remain in force for tomorrow morning’s (03:15am to 06:15) high tide on Saturday 3rd March. Wave overtopping and wind-blown spray is expected at these times, particularly at North Shields Western Quay Promenade as a result of moderate spring tides, accompanied by strong onshore winds generating large waves. This may cause localised flooding and standing water on roads and walkways. Please take care near coastal paths and promenades and do not drive through flood water or large waves. We will continue to monitor the conditions and this message will be updated again on Saturday 3rd March for subsequent tides as required or if the situation changes. Currently, we are not expecting this warning to remain in force for the afternoon high tide on Saturday.

River Tyne
The warning for the Tyne Estuary at North Shields, South Shields and Howdon Pans will remain in force for tomorrow morning’s (03:15 to 05:45) and tomorrow afternoon (15:15 to 18:15) high tides on Friday 2nd March. Some overtopping and wind-blown spray is expected at these times, particularly at North Shields Western Quay Promenade as a result of moderate spring tides, accompanied by strong onshore winds generating large waves. The overall amount of overtopping is currently forecast to be less than occurred during Thursday afternoon’s high tide. Nevertheless, this may still cause localised flooding and standing water on roads and walkways. Please take care near coastal paths and promenades and do not drive through flood water or large waves. We will continue to monitor the conditions and this message will be updated again on Friday 2nd March for subsequent tides as required or if the situation changes.
