River levels have risen on the River Pont and Blyth as a result of heavy rainfall and snow melt. Consequently, rivers will be high throughout Saturday evening, 15/02/2020, and into Sunday. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the weekend. We expect river levels to remain high over this period. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are checking defences. We will issue Flood Warnings if required. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 16/02/2020, or as the situation changes.

River levels are high but steady at the Ponteland river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Levels at the Stamfordham gauge are peaking and are predicted to fall overnight. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads. No significant further rainfall is forecast overnight. River levels are expected to fall, but still pose a flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated by 21:00 05/11/2019.

Overnight we have seen heavy rainfall over the River Pont catchment which has resulted in rising river levels. The main areas of concern are around Stamfordham Heugh Mill and Ponteland, where levels suggest that there may be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river this morning (Tuesday 5th November). We expect the river level to peak around 10am and remain high during the afternoon, though no flooding to properties is currently forecast and warnings are not expected to be issued. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. Avoid walking or driving along riverside roads and footpaths. We are monitoring river levels closely and our operational teams are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages from rivers. This message will be updated at 4pm today, or earlier if the situation changes.

This alert has been issued early during waking hours based on the current forecast. River levels are forecast to rise at the Stamfordham Heugh Mill river gauge as a result of late evening (Thursday 03/10/2019) and overnight rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from the early hours of Friday morning, 04/10/2019. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads. The river levels will remain high into Friday morning (04/10/2019). At this time we do not anticipate flood warnings will be necessary but we are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and clearing trash screens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 11:00 on 04/10/19, or as the situation changes.

River levels at the Stamfordham Heugh Mill river gauge are continuing to respond to Tuesday morning’s rainfall and will peak later this evening, remaining high overnight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible throughout Tuesday evening into Wednesday, 02/10/2019. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads. We are closely monitoring the situation and aren’t expecting to issue any flood warnings. Our incident response staff are out checking defences and trash screens. River levels on the Pont have been falling throughout the day and will continue to fall overnight (12/08/2019). However river levels on the Pont remain high and flooding of riverside footpaths, roads and low lying land is possible. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. River levels are also high at the Ponteland river gauge and will remain high throughout Monday 12th August into the evening. Consequently, flooding of riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads is possible throughout Monday, 12/08/2019. No further significant rainfall is forecast and flooding of properties is not expected. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Consequently, flooding of riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads is possible until tomorrow morning, 12/08/2019 with river levels peaking from 21:00 today, 11/08/2019. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point and we do not expect to issue any flood warnings. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 12/08/2019, or as the situation changes.

Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the Rivers Pont and Blyth area. A combination of this and melting snow has meant that river levels are high. Areas affected include Stamfordham, Ponteland and Stannington Vale, where levels suggest that flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river will continue overnight (Tuesday 6th March) and tomorrow (Wednesday 7th March). We expect river levels to fall gradually during Wednesday. The situation is being monitored, and we do not expect to issue any flood warnings. Areas affected include Stamfordham, Ponteland and Stannington Vale, where levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river from throughout Tuesday 6th March and Wednesday 7th March. The situation is being monitored, we are currently not expecting to issue any flood warnings. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions.
