River levels in the River Neath have been dropping through this afternoon. However, following a recent band of heavy rainfall, river levels at the top of the Neath Catchment are rising. Current indications suggest that river levels at Aberdulais will reach flood warning levels again by around 01:00 am, river levels are expected to peak at a slightly higher level than those experienced earlier today. We have officers on site to monitor the situation and we are working with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Rainfall is forecast to persist into Saturday afternoon, and river levels are expected to rise and fall as bands of heavy rainfall pass through Saturday.
