Further thundery showers are forecast throughout the week, so please remain vigilant and continue to monitor the forecast. There may be isolated showers throughout the day and further showers are forecast throughout the week, so please remain vigilant and continue to monitor the forecast. The Met Office have issued an AMBER weather warning for rain between 16:48 and 21:00 this evening (Sunday 27 May), due to the potential for thunderstorms across the midlands. This Flood Alert is therefore being issued as a PRECAUTION. These thunderstorms could result in the rapid rising of river levels and the rapid flooding of low lying land and roads. It is not possible for us to know where these storms could occur, so please remain vigilant and monitor your own local weather conditions. River levels remain raised in the River Sow and Penk catchment following rainfall on Monday 12 March. The forecast is for predominantly dry weather today (Wednesday 14 March 2018). However another band of rainfall is forecast tomorrow morning (Thursday 15 March). Therefore river levels are expected to remain high, and we expect there to be flooding to low lying land and roads between Great Bridgeford and Shugborough on the River Sow, between Coven and Stafford on the River Penk, on the Sandyford Brook, on the Rising Brook, on the Ridings Brook and on the Saredon Brook, so please take care and continue to monitor the GOV.UK website for further updates. This has resulted in river levels rising in these areas and we expect there to be flooding to low lying land and roads tonight. Overnight rainfall has caused levels to rise in the Sow and Penk catchment this morning (Saturday 10 March). Low lying land and roads in the Penkridge and Milford areas are most susceptible to flooding today but we are not expecting any property flooding.
