River levels have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall yesterday, 05/03/2020. The risk of flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue throughout today, Friday 06/03/2020. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads close to the rivers in the area, particularly on and around Water Lane and Haxted Road. No further immediate rainfall is forecast at this time but rivers are still rising from the rain yesterday, flooding is expected to worsen until water levels peak later today. We are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room and are prepared to respond if required. Continued flooding of low lying land and farmland is possible this evening and overnight into Saturday morning, 15 February, particularly in rural areas between Edenbridge and Penshurst. Further light showers are possible overnight, but generally the weather conditions should remain relatively dry until Saturday lunchtime. Storm Dennis will bring persistent heavy rainfall from Saturday afternoon through to Sunday evening. Overnight rainfall was heavier than forecast, especially in the west of the county, consequently river levels will remain high and fall through Thursday evening. Tonight the forecast is for heavy pulses of rain over night Thursday 19th and Friday 20th. River levels are expected to rise from early on Friday morning. We are monitoring river levels and our teams are patrolling catchments to ensure the free flow of water. It may be worth replanning routes when travelling to avoid water logged roads.

The peak level has now passed in Lingfield, Haxted, Edenbridge and Hever, however the level is still high around Penshurst. Flooding of low-lying land and roads close to the River Eden, particularly around Vexour and Penshurst is expected to continue. Weather conditions are improving from Friday. Flooding of properties is not currently expected but we are monitoring the situation. Please avoid walking along low-lying farmland or footpaths near the watercourses. We do not expect flooding of property but will continue to monitor the situation.

River levels on the Upper Eden are rising in response to heavy persistent rainfall overnight and during today, Monday the 30th of April. Flooding of low lying land and roads is likely today around Lingfield, Haxted Mill and on other local tributaries and watercourses. Water levels are expected to peak later this evening and overnight into Tuesday the 1st of May. The heavy rain should ease and clear eastwards during Monday night leaving a largely dry day on Tuesday. With this intensity of rainfall continuing through the day, surface water flooding in localised areas is possible. Please be careful in areas close to the river channel and be aware of your surroundings. We have staff monitoring river levels closely and will update this message later this afternoon.

This Flood Alert is issued in anticipation of heavy rain forecast overnight on Sunday 29 April and into Monday 30 April. Water levels are likely to rise overnight in the Eden catchment. River levels will remain high throughout this evening and with further rainfall forecasted for tonight, river levels will remain high into Saturday 30 December, peaking during the morning. Flooding of low lying land and areas close to the river channel is expected, however property flooding is not expected at this time. Please remain safe in the areas of concern. River levels on the Eden are high in response to heavy rainfall overnight. Further rainfall is expected this morning which will clear through the afternoon. Flooding on Haxted Road and Water Lane in Haxted is expected. Thursday will be more settled but further rain is expected later this week. During the morning and afternoon of Wednesday 9th August, the Eden catchment received in excess of 40mm of rainfall. This has caused the river levels to rise rapidly, and with further rainfall expected this evening, flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river channel is possible, particularly in the Haxted Mill area. Surface water flooding in the area is also possible, and may cause dangerous driving conditions. We expect river levels to remain high into Thursday, where we will then see levels start to recede. We are continuing to monitor the forecast and river levels, and officers are on standby ready to respond to any blockages that may occur in the river channel.
