The tide tonight Thursday 4 January 2018 into Friday 5 January 2018 should not be significantly higher than we’ve seen in recent days. Any impacts should be minimal and localised but we are not expecting any flooding to properties. The forecast for Friday afternoon remains a little unsettled, but it is possible a Flood Warning may be reissued. We shall update this message by 10:00 Friday 5 January 2018 with our best assessment of potential impacts.

The Solent
Strong winds and large waves shall return for lunchtime’s tide Thursday 4 Jan 2018, but less stormy than Wednesday. Tide levels are expected to be only 10 centimetres higher than Wednesday so similar impacts are expected. Flooding will affect Shore Road as well as a small number of properties on Bosham High Street and along Gloucester Terrace. All flood boards should be installed. Water will also be high up slipways in West Itchenor. Take care if visiting the coast. Install flood protection products if available. Tides will likely decrease over the coming days. The Solent
Storm Eleanor will ease but strong winds, large waves and a higher than average tide will continue tonight. Impacts should be less than today, but water will flood Shore Road and minor flooding impacts are expected on Bosham High Street at high tide. Shoreside properties around Chichester Harbour could also be affected. This Flood Warning will be reissued for Thursday 4 Jan with a comparable tide to Wednesday. Tides do not fall significantly until the weekend, but with wind and waves easing the overall flood risk should reduce. Take care if visiting the coast. This message is being issued for the high tide on Wednesday 3 January at 11:45, when strong winds, large waves and a higher than average tide are forecast to coincide. Around high tide flooding will affect Shore Road, as well as a small number of properties in Bosham High Street and along Gloucester Terrace. All flood boards should be installed. Water will also be high up slipways in West Itchenor. We are monitoring conditions. Tide levels are high over the next 48 hours. But further Flood Warnings are not expected based on current forecasts. This message will be updated by 15:00 Wednesday 3 January.
