The Solent, English Channel
Wednesday's early morning tide at 01:00 on 10/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.09 m. The total forecast tide is 5.29 metres Chart Datum (2.55 mAOD) at Chichester Harbour. Approximately 40cm lower than Monday evening. For 2 hours either side of high water, the tide could again go over and through the beach near to the Medmerry embankment, with flood water affecting ditches and potentially reaching Bracklesham Caravan and Boat club. Spray overtopping could also cause minor flooding to gardens at East Bracklesham Drive and Marineside. Wednesday's afternoon tide at 13:30 on 10/04/2024 is forecast to be very similar (2.57 mAOD). Minor flood impacts are expected again. Flood impacts could continue near Bracklesham each high water until Saturday 13/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. This Flood Warning is issued as a precaution, because of a reduction in beach condition in Bracklesham. Tuesday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.32 m. The total forecast tide is 5.34 metres Chart Datum (2.60 mAOD) at Chichester Harbour. For 2 hours either side of high water, the tide could again go over and through the beach near to the Medmerry embankment, with flood water affecting ditches and potentially reaching Bracklesham Caravan and Boat club. Spray overtopping could also cause minor flooding to gardens at East Bracklesham Drive and Marineside. Wave heights should reduce Tuesday evening, but tide levels and flood impacts will remain similar until Friday 12/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection 2 hours before high tide. Avoid Bracklesham Bay sea front at high tide. Larger waves can carry and throw shingle, take care.
