The River Arun is high and rising. In the last 2 days, more than half a month's rain (65mm) has been recorded at Hardham. We think the river will continue to slowly rise another 5-10cm this afternoon, and possibly continue rising this evening. We are issuing to try and provide as much preparation time as possible, in case flooding occurs. From 16:00 17/11/2022 flooding will affect the A29 at Pulborough. Water will be extensive through fields and could affect gardens and very close to properties on Lower Street and Swan Corner, Pulborough, near to Swan Bridge and Bridge Cottages, Greatham. Very little rain is forecast over the next 2 days. However, the river is unlikely to begin to fall until 02:00 18/11/2022, and will not return nearer to a normal level until next week. Flooding of fields will continue until the weekend. Some roads, including the A29 at Pulborough, may become impassable, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. Our pumps in Pulborough are running to help reduce the risk of flooding. We will update this message by 22:00 17/11/2022.
