Flood Alert issued on 10 Feb 2019 18:11
Western Rother
River levels are still high on the Western Rother between Midhurst and Fittleworth, following the rain Friday and Saturday evenings (8th and 9th February 2019). The overall trend is of falling water levels, but minor impacts of flooding should still be expected, in the Fittleworth area particularly; water on fields and rural roads, in gardens and very close to isolated and Mill properties. The week ahead will remain dry, which will allow river levels to continue their steady fall. We'll continue to monitor levels and forecasts and update our messages. Avoid walking or driving through flood water as it may conceal hidden hazards. This message will be removed by 11:00 Monday (11/2/19), once river levels at Fittleworth have fallen a little further to a more normal level.

Flood Alert issued on 10 Feb 2019 09:44
Western Rother
River levels are either near normal, or are slowly falling on the Western Rother, because only a small amount of rain fell Saturday night (9/2/19). River levels remain high at Fittleworth, where minor flooding should still be expected; water on fields and rural roads, in gardens and very close to isolated and Mill properties. Sunday (10/2/19) is expected to be predominantly dry, with only the odd shower. Any rain that does fall will not cause rivers to rise by much, instead we expect river levels to steadily fall through the day. The coming week looks settled and dry too, which will allow river levels to fall further. We'll monitor levels and forecasts and update our messages. Avoid walking or driving through flood water as it may conceal hidden hazards. This message will be updated by 19:00 Sunday (10/2/19), and likely removed Monday (11/2/19) when river levels at Fittleworth have fallen.

Flood Alert issued on 9 Feb 2019 18:02
Western Rother
River levels have now peaked on the Western Rother, following the heavy rain Friday afternoon (8/2/19). River levels remain much higher than normal between Lodsbridge and Fittleworth, where minor flooding should still be expected; water on fields and rural roads, in gardens and very close to isolated and Mill properties. Upstream locations (Liss to Midhurst) have already returned to a more usual river height. Rain will move in Saturday night and could linger throughout Sunday. There is uncertainty in the weather forecast, but we’re currently expecting less rain than Friday night (8/2/19) and for river levels to not exceed their recent levels when they peak Sunday afternoon (10/2/19). We expect continued impacts between Lodsbridge and Fittleworth, but not particularly between Liss and Midhurst. We'll monitor levels and forecasts and update our messages. Keep flood protection products installed if you have them. This message will be updated by 11:00 Sunday (10/2/19).

Flood Alert issued on 9 Feb 2019 09:52
Western Rother
River levels are still rising on the Western Rother at Fittleworth, because of the heavy rain Friday afternoon (8/2/19). River levels will stay high for much of the day between Lodsbridge and Coultershaw Bridge and continue to slowly rise a further few centimetres in Fittleworth until late afternoon (9/2/19). Levels elsewhere on the Western Rother, between Liss and Iping have already fallen to near normal. Midhurst should likewise by the afternoon (9/2/19). Minor flooding will still affect locations from Lodsbridge to Fittleworth, with water on fields and rural roads, in gardens and very close to isolated and Mill properties. Rain is forecast for Saturday evening, but thought only half Friday’s amount. River levels will remain high until Monday (11/2/19), but flood risk may not increase significantly. We'll monitor levels and forecasts and update our messages. Keep flood protection products installed if you have them. This message will be updated by 19:00 Saturday (9/2/19).

Flood Alert issued on 8 Feb 2019 20:33
Western Rother
River levels are rising on the Western Rother between Iping and Fittleworth because of the heavy rain this afternoon (Friday 8/2/19). Minor flooding is expected in places. River levels will continue to rise in Iping and Midhurst until 02:00 Saturday morning, affecting fields, rural roads and gardens but are unlikely to cause flooding to property. River levels will peak very close to Mill properties in Lodsbridge by 09:30 Saturday morning (9/2/19), and around 16:00 Saturday afternoon at Fittleworth. River levels will not rise much further through Liss and Sheet and will soon fall in those locations. Rain is expected to return Saturday evening (9/2/19) into Sunday. We therefore expect river levels to remain higher than normal, with a risk of flooding until Monday 11th February. We'll keep monitoring levels and forecasts and update our messages. Flood protection products should be installed if you have them. This message will be updated by 11:00 on Saturday 9th February 2019.

Flood Alert issued on 21 Dec 2018 14:53
Western Rother
Less rain fell than predicted last night. The risk of flooding is now reduced and impacts should be minimal. River levels have peaked and are falling through Liss, Iping and Stedham. River levels will continue to rise along the lower reaches of the Western Rother through Lodsbridge, Coultershaw Bridge and Fittleworth throughout today and will peak at around 22:00 Friday through Lodsbridge and in the early hours of Saturday 22 December at Fittleworth. River levels will not be as high as Thursday. Minor impacts could still be experienced, with small amounts of flood water affecting fields, gardens and rural roads. Friday and Saturday should be largely dry, which should allow river levels to fall. Further rain is forecast for Sunday which may cause river levels to rise again. We'll monitor forecasts and update our messages. Please remain prepared for flood risk to increase again over coming days. This message will be updated, or likely removed by 12:00 on Saturday 22 December.

Western Rother
Nearly half a month's rain has fallen over the past few days. River levels remain high at Fittleworth and Lodsbridge. More rain is forecast overnight. There is uncertainty, but we think river levels will rise further. Flooding is possible Friday afternoon (21/12/2018), between Lodsbridge and Fittleworth, including Coultershaw Bridge, which will likely see the highest river levels of the week so far. Minor flooding is expected, with flood water affecting fields, gardens and rural roads. The risk of flooding is lower through Liss, Sheet, Iping and Stedham where river levels are likely to rise less. Friday and Saturday should be largely dry, but further rain is forecast for Sunday. River levels will remain higher than normal through the weekend. We'll monitor forecasts and update our messages. Please plan driving routes to avoid driving through flood water and install flood protection products if you have them. This message will be updated by 15:00 on Friday 21 December.

Flood Alert issued on 20 Dec 2018 10:25
Western Rother
River levels have been kept high because of rain showers last night. Minor flood impacts are expected to persist throughout Thursday 20 December, between Lodsbridge and Fittleworth. Flood water is expected to affect isolated mill and riverside properties, gardens, fields and rural roads. The risk of flooding is lower through Liss, Sheet, Iping and Stedham where river levels are closer to normal. Further rain is expected overnight into Friday 21 December. We expect river levels to remain high and of a broadly similar magnitude between Lodsbridge and Fittleworth through to Saturday 22 December, possibly increasing by a few centimetres, and for levels between Liss and Midhurst to rise to similar levels as of recent days. We'll continue to monitor forecasts and update our messages. Flood protection products should be installed if you have them. This message will be updated by 20:00 on Thursday 20 December.
