River levels remain high on the River Don at Kilnhurst - Beighton Road, Springfield Road and Wharf Road due to persistent rainfall. Flooding in areas adjacent to the river is still possible through out today, 21st October 2023 and into the evening. Our incident rooms are open, and we are closely monitoring the situation. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions and consider putting your flood plan into action. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. River levels are rising on the River Calder at Stanley, Methley, Mickletown and Whitewood Mere due to heavy rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Calder at Stanley, Methley, Mickletown and Whitewood Mere, with low lying land expected to be most affected. Flooding is expected from 07:45 PM on 20/10/2023 with a peak at 01:30 AM at a level of 4.1m. Further rainfall is forecast overnight. River levels are expected to remain high. Our incident rooms are open and we are closely monitoring the situation. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. River levels have now fallen below the flood risk threshold and we expect to be able to remove this flood warning in the morning. Further showery rainfall is forecast over the next few days although this is not expected to have a significant effect on river levels. We continue to monitor the situation. River levels have peaked but remain high following heavy rainfall due to Storm Ciara. The River Calder peaked at Methley in the early hours of this morning, 10/02/20, but levels are likely to remain elevated for the next 24 hours, so this warning remains in force although the risk of property flooding is reduced. Further scattered showers are forecast throughout the rest of today, 10/02/20, however we do not anticipate a significant river level response. Standing water may still affect roads and low lying land in the catchment. To report property flooding, please call our incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60. We continue to monitor the situation.
