River levels have risen rapidly on Batley Beck as the result of heavy rain and thunderstorms today, Tuesday 18/06/2024. As a consequence, flooding of properties is possible. The Risk of further thunderstorms remains until 21:00 this evening. Slow moving thunderstorms are expected until around 9pm this evening and could lead to a rapid rise in local watercourses and cause surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please stay safe, avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. River levels remain high but are now falling following persistent heavy rainfall due to Storm Ciara. Whilst further showers are forecast throughout today, 10/02/20, we do not expect these to cause significant impacts to river levels, which should continue to fall. Consequently we expect the risk of flooding to reduce throughout the day, and will review the continuing need for this warning once the river drops below levels of concern.

River levels have risen as a result of persistent heavy rainfall overnight due to Storm Ciara. A further heavy band of rain is coming through and we expect this to cause the river to continue to rise, making property flooding possible over the next two hours of this morning, 09/02/20. Business on Alexandra Road, Batley, are most at risk.
We expect river levels to continue to rise until around midday today, when the rain is forecast to ease into a pattern of showers.
