Rising river levels throughout this evening, as a result of persistent rainfall, may lead to flooding. Levels are expected to peak around 1am tomorrow, Tuesday 01/10/2024, and remain high throughout the day.
Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible. Impacts are expected on the B6098. Surface Water flooding may be possible.
Weather conditions are expected to improve overnight and into tomorrow morning, 01/10/2024, and no further significant rainfall is expected over the coming days. We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads near rivers. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

Flooding is possible at River Dearne and its tributaries from Denby Dale to Mexborough from 6:30AM on 03/04/2024. No property flooding is expected. Further rainfall is expected throughout the morning.

River levels have peaked on the River Dearne after persistent rainfall and rapid snowmelt overnight and throughout today, but levels remain high particularly at Darton and Barnsley.
Areas most at risk include low lying land around these areas, Old Moor, Bolton Ings, Cudworth, Houghton and Wombwell Washlands. The washlands have been filling and flooding of low-lying land near the watercourse remains likely throughout Friday, 09/02/2024.
We expect river levels to begin to fall later today and into this evening, however we will continue to monitor river levels and rainfall closely.

River levels are rising in the River Dearne catchment, particularly at Bolton Bridge and Darton. We expect levels to begin to fall as rainfall subsides during the evening tonight, Tuesday 2/1/24. The B6098 which crosses the River Dearne is likely to see flooding, as well as washlands around Darton. We will continue to monitor levels closely. We expect to see slightly lower levels to those reached last night, 9/12/2023. Therefore, this Flood Alert remains in force. Flooding is possible from 8 PM to 8 AM on 09/12/2023 to 10/12/2023, with a peak in Barnsley at 4 AM on 10/12/2023. Further rainfall is forecast overnight with weather remaining unsettled throughout the rest of the weekend.

Consequently, flooding of roads and low-lying land is expected this afternoon and into this evening, 17/11/22. Areas most at risk are low-lying land and roads. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point, however there may be surface water issues locally. Further rainfall is forecast throughout the day but is expected to die away this evening and overnight. We currently expect river levels to peak at around 18:00 in the Darton area and around 21:30 in the Darfield area, before starting to fall through this evening and overnight.

River levels have continued to fall throughout yesterday. A further band of rain has now passed through the area, and this is causing levels to rise slightly in response. We anticipate that levels will peak in the early hours of this morning, 29/01/2021, and expect these peaks to be lower than yesterday morning, so the risk of further flooding is reducing.
Although there may be scattered showers, no further significant rain is forecast tonight, so once this peak passes levels will continue to fall steadily. We will review the ongoing need for this Flood Alert in daylight hours.

River levels are forecast to rise across the Dearne Catchment as a result of persistent rainfall, from Tuesday morning, 19/01/21, until Thursday morning, 21/01/21. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible from Tuesday evening onwards. Areas most at risk are low lying land, roads and farmland. As a result we expect to see river levels start to rise from midday on Tuesday. We will be monitoring closely to assess locations where we may need to issue flood warnings. Our field teams are checking defences and clearing screens ahead of the rainfall. We are liaising closely with our partners to ensure they are ready to respond. Please put your flood plan into action and activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers. Levels on the River Dearne have risen as a result of the heavy rainfall from Storm Bella. However, we no longer expect to issue any flood warnings in this area. River levels will peak later this morning (27/12/20) and will fall steadily throughout the rest of the day. Although further rain is forecast today, we do not expect this to cause a further significant river response. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update this message by 12:35 on 27/12/20, or if the situation changes. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

This alert is being issued as levels on the River Dearne are rising as a result of Storm Bella. At present, we expect that any potential flooding impacts are most likely to occur at around 7am on Sunday morning, 27/12/2020.
Further rainfall is forecast over the course of the night any into the early hours of Sunday Morning, 27/12/2020. We are monitoring the situation very closely to assess the need to issue flood warnings for the River Dearne at Bolton upon Dearne - Mexborough Road and Watermead, if river levels continue to rise as a result of the rainfall.

Levels in the Dearne have now peaked at the upper end of the catchment. This flood alert remains in force as the potential for flooding of low-lying land and roads remains. River levels around Adwick are now peaking . Higher than average river levels are expected to remain into mid-week. The risk of flooding in low-lying areas in this catchment remains even when it is not raining, as river levels are being impacted as rainfall from Storm Dennis higher up the catchment travels downstream.
Please take care near rivers and stay away from riverbanks.

Levels in the Dearne have now peaked at the upper end of the catchment but remain high further down the catchment around Adwick as a result of the rainfall from Storm Dennis. This flood alert remains in force as the potential for flooding of low-lying land and roads remains.
We expect further scattered showers throughout today, 16/02/20, but do not anticipate a significant river level response and expect to see levels around Adwick peaking later this evening. Higher than average river levels are expected to remain into mid-week. The risk of flooding in low-lying areas in this catchment remains even when it is not raining, as river levels are being impacted as rainfall from Storm Dennis higher up the catchment travels downstream.

Rainfall is expected to continue throughout the night tonight, 15/02/20, and into Sunday morning, with a period of sustained rain likely from the late evening. River levels are likely to level out in response to breaks in rainfall, but will then continue to rise in response to the sustained rain throughout the evening and peak in the early hours tomorrow, 16/02/20. Current forecasts indicate that peak levels will be significantly below those seen during Storm Ciara.

Rainfall associated with Storm Dennis is forecast to intensify from midday today, 15 February 2020. The current forecast indicates that the river response will begin later this afternoon and is likely to peak around Sunday midday, 16 February. Flooding of properties and roads is possible this evening and into Sunday.
We have staff in the field and are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room. If you observe flood waters, please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near watercourses. "River levels have risen and will continue to rise until midday Sunday (09/02/2020) as a result of persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Ciara. Widespread rain and high winds is expected to continue through to early afternoon Sunday. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains.
