Levels on the River Went are currently elevated following this morning’s rainfall, Monday 24/02/2020. Levels are expected to remain high until the early hours of tomorrow morning (25/02/2020) before they will begin to fall. No further significant rainfall is forecast for the next 24 hours. River levels on the Went have peaked and are forecast to continue to fall steadily overnight and into Monday Morning (17th February). Whilst the period of greatest risk has now passed, this warning is still in force as river levels remain high, with an ongoing risk of flooding to low-lying land and roads. We currently expect levels to fall through Monday morning. Scattered showers are forecast for the first half of the week. We do not anticipate a significant river level response, but levels are expected to remain higher than average for at least the next two days. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near watercourses, which may be flooded, and avoid driving through floodwater. River levels rose overnight as a result of the heavy rainfall associated with Storm Dennis. Levels remain high, so this warning remains in force. Consequently, the risk of flooding to low-lying land and roads remains today, 16/02/20. We expect levels to peak later this afternoon. Scattered showers are forecast for the first half of the week. We do not anticipate a significant river level response, but levels are expected to remain higher than average for at least the next two days. Following recent rainfall which has left ground saturated, river levels have risen as a result of Storm Dennis. Rainfall is expected to continue throughout the night tonight, 15/02/20, and into Sunday morning, with a period of sustained rainfall likely from the late evening. Based on the current forecast, river levels are likely to rise steadily throughout the night as further sustained rainfall falls, and are expected to peak in the afternoon tomorrow, 16/02/20. The risk of flooding to low-lying land and roads remains this evening and into Sunday. We have are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room. Following recent rainfall which has left the ground saturated, river levels are forecast to rise as a result of Storm Dennis. Rainfall is expected to intensify from midday today, 15 February 2020. The current forecast indicates that the river response will begin later this afternoon and is likely to peak in the afternoon of Sunday, 16 February. Flooding of properties, roads and farmland is possible this evening and into Sunday. We are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room. River levels in the River Went continue to fall as water makes its way downstream following rainfall from storm Ciara on Sunday (9/02/2020). High tides today (Monday) and on Tuesday may slow the rate at which river levels drop but we do not expect any further risk of flooding. A band of rain has now moved across South Yorkshire with scattered showers forecast overnight and moving into the morning of Friday 15th November. Consequently, river levels have risen steadily on the River Went catchment and we expect these to peak at around 6am this morning (Friday 15th November). River levels are expected to peak much lower than those seen on the 7th and 8th of November. We continue to support the coordinated multi‐agency response and our incident room is open 24/7. Our incident response staff have deployed pumps, people and equipment so that we can reduce levels of water in the worst affected areas, and increase the capacity of our washlands for the coming days. River levels have remained steady today in the River Went catchment however we are seeing a band of rain moving across South Yorkshire which will be followed by showers overnight and into tomorrow. Given the wet ground conditions, we expect local rivers to respond, rising steadily this evening and overnight. The River Went is forecast to peak at around 6 to 8 am on Friday morning (15/11/2019). River levels have continued to steadily fall overnight in the River Went catchment, this morning, Thursday, 14th November, we are seeing a band of rain to start to move across South Yorkshire, followed by showers overnight and into tomorrow. Given the wet ground conditions, we expect local rivers to respond, rising steadily from late afternoon onwards, returning to high levels overnight. The River Went is forecast to peak at around 6 to 8 a.m on Friday morning. We continue to support the coordinated multi‐agency response and our incident room is open 24/7. Rainfall is starting to clear away towards the south and east and no further significant rainfall is currently expected overnight on 12/03/2018. River levels on the upper Went (Ackworth, Went Bridge) are now starting to peak, with locations further downstream (Topham Ferry Bridge) starting to peak in the coming hours. Please be aware that the River Went catchment is currently saturated from this recent rainfall so low lying land, roads and fields may still be affected. Please remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. We continue to monitor the improving situation and as river levels are now falling we do not expect flood warnings to be issued. River levels on the Went will return to normal on the morning of 13/03/2018 and therefore this alert will be removed around 08:00.

This flood alert has been issued in response to rising river levels on the River Went. Continued rainfall today has seen levels rise steadily and river levels on the Went are expected to continue rising into this evening, peaking around midnight on 12th March 2018.
