The recent heavy rainfall that has affected the Welland Valley has caused river levels on the River Welland to rise. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days which may lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. The recent heavy rainfall that has affected the Welland Valley has caused river levels on the River Welland to rise. This has led to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river during Saturday morning onwards. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties isn't likely and therefore flood warnings are not expected to be issued. We are constantly monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. River levels in the upper reaches of the River Welland have dropped back down to safe levels, however levels in the lower reaches between Stamford and Spalding remain high as the effects of Saturday's heavy rainfall work their way down the river system. As a result, flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river will continue. We expect rivers to remain high for the next few days. We are constantly monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages, closing flood doors and clearing weedscreens. This means that the rivers are now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river from this evening [Sunday 27 October] onwards. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days, however no rain is forecast over the next 48 hours.
