River levels are remaining high on the River Weaver due to heavy rainfall. Areas most at risk include some properties close to the River Weaver along Warrington Road and Sandy Lane. Further light rainfall is forecast throughout the evening. River levels are forecast to begin falling during the next 12 hours. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Consequently, the risk of flooding still remains a possibility for some properties close to the River Weaver along Warrington Road and Sandy Lane. We do not currently expect a further significant rise in river levels, but this flood warning will continue to remain in place due to high river levels. We expect the river levels to peak around 11:30pm tonight, on 28/01/2021.
