This alert is for coastal flooding. Due to a combination of high water levels, wind and waves there is a risk of coastal flooding around the times of high tide. There could be flooding of low-lying land and roads, and overtopping from spray or waves in exposed locations. The highest water levels are expected on Sunday afternoon, when high tide will coincide with strong winds and large waves.

An updated FLOOD ALERT has been issued for West Central Scotland.
Rivers in the area are rising due to heavy rain which has fallen overnight and will continue through Friday morning into the afternoon. There is a risk of flooding from rivers, small watercourses and surface water. Flooding to the rail and road networks is already happening. River levels are expected to remain high into the evening.
Extra care should be taken on the roads as there is likely to be difficult driving conditions, and when out and about near rivers and smaller watercourses as high water levels could cause some deep and fast flowing water over land.
Typical impacts include
- Flooding of land and roads, particularly on low lying land next to rivers.
- Wet road surfaces and ponding of surface water, especially in known trouble spots.
- Disruption to travel and infrastructure leading to longer journey times.
More significant flooding impacts are also possible, including:

A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for West Central Scotland.
On Friday, a prolonged spell of rain, which will be heavy at times, is expected to cause a rise in river levels and a risk of flooding from rivers, small watercourses and surface water. The rain is likely to fall over a period of 9 to 12 hours from midnight on Thursday with flooding impacts possible from early on Friday morning and through the day.
Typical impacts include
- Flooding of land and roads, particularly on low lying land next to rivers.
- Wet road surfaces and ponding of surface water, especially in known trouble spots.
- Disruption to travel and infrastructure leading to longer journey times.
More significant flooding impacts are also possible, including:
- Flooding affecting parts of communities.

A period of heavy and persistent rain on Monday could cause flooding impacts from rivers and surface water on Monday and into Tuesday. Particularly at risk are urban areas and the transport network. Impacts may include flooding to low-lying land and roads, with difficult driving conditions. Isolated properties may also be at risk.
Due to a combination of high tides, storm surge and strong winds there is also a risk of coastal flooding from waves and spray overtopping to low lying areas along the Firth of Clyde on Monday night and Tuesday. The greatest risk is around the time of high water on Monday night, which is around 2345 at Greenock.

An updated FLOOD ALERT has been issued for West Central Scotland.
There is a risk of significant coastal flooding on Tuesday and Wednesday due to higher than usual tides and large waves. This will increase the risk of flooding to low lying land and roads and could affect exposed coastal properties. There could also be wave overtopping of coastal defences. The periods of greatest risk are around the high tide which occurs in Dumbarton at around 1500 on Tuesday and 0400 on Wednesday.

This alert is for fluvial (river) and surface water flooding
Heavy and persistent rain will affect the Southern Uplands from Friday night and throughout Saturday. This may lead to localised flooding from surface water, small watercourses and larger rivers, with the high flows on the larger rivers continuing into Sunday
Built up areas and the transport network are at greater risk where possible impacts could include: significant travel disruption, flooding affecting properties, communities and key infrastructure throughout the day and into the evening.

A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for West Central Scotland.
Strong westerly winds and large waves on Saturday will increase the risk of spray and wave overtopping at exposed coastlines around the time of high tide, which occurs at around 1.30pm. This could lead to disruption due to flooding of low-lying land and roads. Individual properties in exposed coastal locations could also be affected by spray and wave overtopping.
Additionally, periods of rain and hill snow throughout the day on Saturday could lead to isolated disruption due to flooding from small watercourses and surface water, particularly in known trouble spots. There could be disruption to travel and difficult driving conditions.
