Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Eden, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around A686 Penrith to Alston Road at Langwathby Bridge, Toll Bar Cottage, Eden Hall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road. Flooding of property is expected from 8:30 PM on 21/01/2024. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. River levels are rising rapidly on the River Eden due to heavy rainfall. Areas most at risk include A686 Penrith to Alston Road at Langwathby Bridge; Toll Bar Cottage, Eden Hall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road. Flooding is affecting A686 Penrith to Alston Road at Langwathby Bridge; Toll Bar Cottage, Eden Hall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road. We are clearing debris from weed screens in the area. Consider activating any property flood protection products. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.

River levels continue to remain high along the Eden Valley as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue. Toll Bar Cottage, Edenhall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road, may be affected. Tonight we are expecting between 20mm and 40mm of rainfall. This will cause river levels to rise tomorrow morning. We are continuing to closely monitor the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. River levels are forecast to rise at the Eden Valley river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to begin from 10:00 today, 22/02/2020. Toll Bar Cottage, Eden Hall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road, may be affected. The current rainfall has now cleared the area and river levels are expected peak just above the flood warning level and start to fall throughout this afternoon, 22/02/2020. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated later today, 22/02/2020, or as the situation changes.

River Eden
River levels are raised at the Eden Valley river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property and low lying roads and farmland is expected. Areas to be affected are Toll Bar Cottage, Eden Hall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road. The River Eden level has peaked and for a short time will fall. However further rain will cause the level to rise and we expect it to peak again at around 10am on Sunday 16/02/20. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near local watercourses. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen at the Eden Valley river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall on the Pennines and the River Eden only recently peaking upstream at Appleby. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains for Eden Hall Cricket Club and the A686 Penrith to Alston Road at Langwathby Bridge. Flood water could be deep and fast flowing, and therefore pose a risk to life. Further showers are forecast this evening and overnight. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Following the rain over night and further rain expected with Storm Ciara the River Eden is continuing to rise. We expect that water may impact the A686 around the bridge at Langwathby. We are continuing to monitor the situation.
