River levels have been falling at the Cummersdale river gauge but are forecast to rise again early Sunday morning 16/02/10 in response to further rain, peaking by 9am before falling again through the rest of the day. Consequently, flooding of property, low lying land and roads is expected. Areas at risk are the Stead McAlpin Factory on Caldew Road and parts of the Cumbria Way Cycleway adjacent to the River Caldew at Cummersdale, Carlisle. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen at the Cummersdale river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, low lying land and roads is expected. Areas at risk are the Stead McAlpin Factory on Caldew Road and parts of the Cumbria Way Cycleway adjacent to the River Caldew at Cummersdale, Carlisle. We expect river levels to remain high until tomorrow morning. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. River levels on the River Caldew remain high but are beginning to fall at the Cummersdale river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding is reducing. the Stead McAlpin Factory on Caldew Road and parts of the Cumbria Way Cycleway adjacent to the River Caldew at Cummersdale, Carlisle. We do not forecast the situation to deteriorate any further. Further showers are forecast for the rest of today. River levels are falling and remain just above the Flood Warning level and now pose a reduced flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. River levels have risen at the Cummersdale river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible after 5am this morning Tuesday 1st October. The Stead McAlpin Factory on Caldew Road and parts of the Cumbria Way Cycleway adjacent to the River Caldew at Cummersdale, Carlisle are likely to be affected. Rain is forecast to continue during Tuesday morning but should move away during the afternoon. We expect river levels to remain above the flood warning threshold during Tuesday morning and the level at Cummersdale is forecast to peak at approximately 3m. This message will be updated by Tuesday afternoon, or as the situation changes. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and closing flood gates. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water.

Further rain is expected into Thursday morning. The Caldew River level remains high and will remain at its current level into the morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update this message as the situation changes.

Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue throughout today and into the evening, clearing after midnight. River levels will continue to rise during the course of the day. The River Caldew is expected to reach the flood warning threshold at approximately 17:30 and will then peak at approximately 19:30 this evening. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update if the situation changes.
