Areas that remain most at risk include commercial and residential properties adjacent to the Rivers Cocker and Derwent at Cockermouth, in the Brewery Lane, Bridge Street, Crown Street, High Sand Lane, Main Street and Waterloo Street areas. Whilst river levels remain high we will keep all flood gates closed in the area and will continue to monitor the situation. Avoid using low lying roads and footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. We will update this message tomorrow morning 31/10/21, or as the situation changes.

River levels remain high at the Kingfisher river gauge as a result of recent persistent rainfall. Consequently, there is still a risk of flooding to property, roads and farmland and the river level at Kingfisher gauge is expected to remain above the Flood Warning threshold for several hours. Low lying land and properties adjacent to the Rivers Cocker and Derwent at Cockermouth, including Memorial Gardens, Trout Hotel car park and the Cricket Ground may be affected. Tonight we are expecting between 20mm and 40mm of rainfall. This will cause river levels to rise tomorrow morning. We are continuing to closely monitor the situation. Consequently, there is still a risk of flooding to property, roads and farmland and the river level at Kingfisher gauge is expected to remain above the Flood Warning threshold until 18:00 today, 22/02/2020. Low lying land and properties adjacent to the Rivers Cocker and Derwent at Cockermouth, including Memorial Gardens, Trout Hotel car park and the Cricket Ground.
