Sunday morning's tide at 11:15 AM is higher than normal due to Storm Kathleen which is bringing strong winds, large waves and spray overtopping on the coast.
Flooding is possible at low lying areas along the coast from St Bees Head to Haverigg including Ravenglass and Annaside between 9:15 AM and 1:15 PM on 07/04/2024.
Sunday evening's high tide is not expected to reach the flood alert level but we are expecting higher than normal tides over at least the next 5 days and as a result we may issue further alerts or warnings.
Our incident response staff are closing flood gates and checking defences.

This Flood Alert has been issued due to the high tide forecast at 11:30AM on Wednesday 16/02/22, with impacts possible two hours before and after this time. Storm Dudley is forecast to bring strong winds, large waves and spray overtopping on the coast. Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at Braystones Beach and the area near Braystones, Nethertown and Coulderton along the foreshore may be affected.
We expect Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice to affect the coast over the next few days, and with increasing spring tides the effects are predicted to intensify. Tonight’s high tide is also expected to require a flood alert, and we are likely to issue further alerts and warnings over the next 3-4 days, depending on the path of the next storm. We will continue to monitor levels closely and our incident support staff will be out checking defences and closing gates where necessary. A tidal surge and waves are expected to affect the foreshore as a result of high spring tides and strong winds. Tides will be at their highest between 10:15pm and 10:45pm today 14/11/2020, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Flooding is expected to affect low lying land, roads and coastal paths at St Bees, Coulderton, Nethertown, Braystones, Seascale, Saltcoats, Ravenglass, Annas estuary and Haverigg. The Flood Alert trigger is also forecast to be met for the next high tide tomorrow morning, 15/11/2020.

Coastal conditions are expected to continue for two hours either side of the high tide at 13:12 today, 12/03/20. Flooding is expected to affect low lying land, roads and coastal paths at St Bees, Coulderton, Nethertown, Braystones, Seascale, Saltcoats, Ravenglass, Annas estuary and Haverigg. Coastal conditions should ease for the high tide 13/03/20 at 01:37. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closing flood gates. Large and powerful waves are expected to affect the foreshore as a result of Storm Dennis. Tides will be at their highest between 14:00 and 18:00 today, 15/02/2020. Flooding to roads and farmland is expected between these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Low lying land, roads and coastal paths at St Bees, Coulderton, Nethertown, Braystones, Seascale, Saltcoats, Ravenglass, Annas estuary and Haverigg may be affected.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closing the floodgates at Ravenglass.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths along the coast.
