Due to a band of heavy rain crossing Cumbria this morning 27/08/24, bringing up to approx. 65mm rain in the upland area, we are beginning to see river levels start rising and this is likely to continue until early hours of tomorrow morning 28/08/24. We are not currently expecting to issue any flood warnings. This current band of rain will be followed by period of showers, clearing overnight. We will then hopefully see a drier few days.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Rivers Cocker, Marron and Derwent, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Lower Derwent from Bassenthwaite Lake to the coast at Workington. The Cocker from Crummock Water to Cockermouth. The River Marron from Ullock to its confluence with the Derwent near Bridgefoot.

River and lake levels in the area will remain high due to recent rainfall. We are expecting a drier day today with occasional showers, meaning levels will fall throughout today 24/08/2024. We are expecting further rain Sunday 25/8/24 which will keep levels higher than normal but we are not expecting this to cause any increase to current levels.
