River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Drakelow river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall over the weekend. Consequently, the risk of flooding remain to properties around Waterside Road area in Stapenhill, Burton Bridge area, Newton Road area in Winshill and Church Lane in Newton Solney. The river level is forecast to continue falling slowly this evening (18/02/2020) and overnight. Further rainfall is forecast on Wednesday (19/02/2020), with the potential for heavier rainfall on Thursday morning, 20/02/2020. We are continuing to closely monitor the situation, and our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
