River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Willington river gauge. Levels are expected to peak at the Shardlow gauge today around 3.3 – 3.4m. Consequently, flooding of property is expected to continue. Please note the forecast level at Shardlow on the river levels online service is erroneous. Areas most at risk are Twyford, including the Twyford Village access road, & the A5132 between Willington, Barrow, & Meadow Lane. Further rainfall is forecast for Wednesday & Thursday. We expect river levels to remain high for the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area & liaising with emergency services. Please have a bag ready with vital items like medicines & insurance documents, move possessions & valuables off the ground or to safety, & turn off gas, electricity & water.
