River levels are forecast to peak upstream at approximately 10am. This is causing the River Torridge to rise and the river is forecast to continue rising through this evening. Properties and low lying areas in Taddiport (properties around Taddiport Bridge, Sewage Treatment Works and B3227) and Weare Giffard (riverside properties and roads), will start to flood first from around 7.30pm this evening. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. There will be extensive floodplain flooding and livestock should be moved to higher ground. The river is expected to peak between 8 and 9pm at Dolton and around 3 hours later at Wear Giffard. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. The heavy persistent rainfall experienced on Wednesday has cleared the area. There is potential for some areas to experience heavy showers late this evening and overnight into Thursday. However, river levels on the Torridge have now reached their highest level and are beginning to fall. Levels will continue to fall overnight and the Flood Alert and Warning for this area will be removed tomorrow morning. Standing water and flooding to low lying land and roads is still expected until the early hours of Thursday morning.

River levels are forecast to reach their highest level between 16:30 and 20:00 this afternoon. Flooding to low lying land and roads is expected, and is likely to affect properties close to the river in the Weare Giffard area.
