River Taw
River levels are showing a fast rate of rise at the present in the River Taw catchment. This is in response to heavy rainfall overnight and throughout today. A frontal weather system is currently passing through the county and catchments are already quite saturated. This means that all rivers are currently sensitive to rainfall. The majority of heavy rain should clear from this area by 6pm tonight, with further showers in the early hours of the morning which will be heavy at times. However, it is anticipated that rivers may still remain high or continue to rise beyond this time. There is potential for property flooding in Chenson, Chawleigh, Colleton. In addition to this there is likely to be standing water on low lying roads in the area. Care should be taken when driving. High levels are most likely to occur in the evening of the 21st January. We will continue to monitor river levels and will update this message as the situation changes.
