River levels are currently falling as the persistent weather front from yesterday evening has now passed. Scattered showers are over Devon for the next couple of days. A band of rain is forecast to move through the county early morning on Sunday 11th November. River levels are expected to respond but significant impacts or property flooding are currently not being predicted by flood forecasting models. Low lying land and roads might experience a small amount of standing water. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as conditions change.

Rain is forecast over Devon catchments from 3pm today until late evening on Friday the 9th of November, easing off around 11pm. Between 20 and 30 millimetres of rain is expected to fall across the county by midnight. The heaviest rain will be over the south facing slopes of Dartmoor. River levels are expected to respond but significant impacts or property flooding are currently not being predicted by flood forecasting models. Flooding is possible on Sunday Morning from around 6am. We are forecasting heavy rain from now until Sunday lunch time and are expecting the rivers Sid and Otter to respond. Levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river. We expect the river to remain high throughout Sunday. Flooding is possible on the afternoon of Thursday 31st May and into the morning of Friday 1st June. Heavy thundery rain is forecast for this afternoon through until Friday morning. The Met Office have issued an Amber weather warning for rain for this area during this time. We expect smaller rivers and their tributaries to react quickly to this rainfall causing localised flooding in some areas. There is also likely to be significant surface water flooding in some areas. Flooding to low lying land and roads both from surface water and localised river flooding is expected. It’s possible that 30 mm or more could fall overnight across much of Devon. Flooding is possible on low lying land and roads. Heavy rain is forecast for the next 12 hours in the Rivers Otter and Sid and Exmouth area this will mean that the Rivers Otter and Sid are expected to rise. Levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river from around 10pm on Wednesday. We expect the river to remain high throughout today and into tomorrow and there is a possibility that Flood Warnings may need to be issued overnight. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages in this location. River levels have now receded across much of the Rivers Otter and Sid, and Exmouth area following heavy rainfall earlier over the last few days. Further rainfall is expected this afternoon and will leave the area by the afternoon of Monday 12th March. River levels will rise again in response to this rain, and will remain high. Peak levels are expected overnight tonight into Monday morning. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected. Further showers are predicted throughout Monday morning and Wednesday next week. This will keep river levels high throughout that period. Please take care and monitor your local weather conditions.
