Flooding is possible on the 7th December. Heavy rainfall overnight from Thursday into Friday has caused the River Exe and tributaries to rise. Flooding of low lying land in the floodplain, and roads close to the river is expected. We expect river levels to remain high throughout Friday. Flooding is possible in the early hours of the 7th December. We are expecting heavy rainfall from this evening through to the early hours of tomorrow morning. River catchments are wet and responding quickly to rainfall. This is expected to cause the river levels in the Middle Exe area to rise, peaking in the early hours of the morning. Flooding of low lying land in the floodplain and roads close to the river is expected. We expect the river to remain high throughout Friday. We are currently expecting 10 to 20 mm of rain to fall overnight. Forecasts however, have been changeable. River catchments are now wet and responding quickly to rainfall, which is normal for winter. There may be moving water on floodplains in the area as well as significant standing water on roads. Environment Agency staff will continue monitoring river levels through the night, and field teams will ensure that our flood risk management systems are working effectively. We will update this message on Sunday morning or earlier if there is further information to share.

River levels are reaching their highest through the morning (around 10-11am Saturday). There may still be standing water on low lying farmland and roads. Rain was more scattered and overnight rainfall totals were less than forecast yesterday. There is further rain forecast later which may require further updates to be issued. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor river levels and we will review the likely forecast this afternoon.

Rain is forecast over Devon catchments from 3pm today until late evening on Friday the 9th of November, easing off around 11pm. Between 20 and 30 millimetres of rain is expected to fall across the county by midnight. The heaviest rain will be over the south facing slopes of Dartmoor. River levels are expected to respond but significant impacts or property flooding are currently not being predicted by flood forecasting models. Low lying land and roads might experience a small amount of standing water. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as conditions change.

Flooding is possible in the early hours of Saturday morning. A heavy band of frontal rain will cross Devon overnight with higher accumulations over the moors. River levels are already high and will rise again, resulting in flooding of low lying land and roads. Spray, large puddles and standing water are likely to lead to difficult travel conditions. Light rain will continue to fall throughout Friday evening, followed by a front of heavy rain in the early hours of Saturday morning. Flooding is possible on the afternoon of Thursday 31st May and into the morning of Friday 1st June. Heavy thundery rain is forecast for this afternoon through until Friday morning. The Met Office have issued an Amber weather warning for rain for this area during this time. We expect smaller rivers and their tributaries to react quickly to this rainfall causing localised flooding in some areas. There is also likely to be significant surface water flooding in some areas. Flooding to low lying land and roads both from surface water and localised river flooding is expected. Flooding is possible on Wednesday morning. Over the last 24 hours we have seen some heavy rainfall in the Middle Exe area. This has meant that the River Batherm is now rising. The main areas of concern are Bampton, where levels suggest that there may be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river around 10am on Wednesday morning. We can look forward to a dry night, although the occasional shower is still possible. Flooding is possible on Wednesday evening overnight in to Thursday morning. Heavy rain is forecast for the next 12 hours in the Middle Exe area this will mean that the rivers are expected to rise. Levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river around 6pm on Wednesday. We expect the river to remain high throughout today and into tomorrow and there is a possibility that Flood Warnings may need to be issued overnight. River levels have now receded across much of the Middle Exe Area following heavy rainfall earlier over the last few days. Further rainfall is expected this afternoon and will leave the area by the afternoon of Monday 12th March. River levels will rise again in response to this rain, and will remain high. Peak levels are expected overnight tonight into Monday morning. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected. Further showers are predicted throughout Monday morning and Wednesday next week. Flooding is possible in the morning of Wednesday the 24th of January. A band of intense rainfall is expected to reach the North Devon coast at 7am, lasting for approximately one hour. This is then followed by a front of less intense rain lasting through until midday. This rainfall will cause river levels to rise in the River Exe Catchment during the morning. Catchments remain saturated from the previous rainfall, and we expect a fast response to this forecast rainfall. At present the expected river levels suggest that there may be flooding to low-lying land and roads. Some minor showers are currently forecast throughout Wednesday and Thursday. This, coupled with catchments saturated from previous rainfall, will cause river levels to rise. At present Flood Alert criteria are being met during the early hours of the morning, this may lead to flooding of low-lying land and roads. Further showers are expected throughout Thursday evening, however these are predicted to be less heavy. River levels are likely to remain high throughout this period. Heavy rainfall between approximately 9pm and 10pm tonight passed over Exe catchments. The rain has now passed though these catchments but the saturated nature of this location has caused river levels to rise. The flood alert criteria has now been reached on the Middle Exe Area. The outlook over night is for strong winds and generally unsettled conditions to persist but currently no further significant rainfall is expected. River levels are currently not forecast to rise significantly more than at present and should be expected to begin receding again in the next two to three hours. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the situation and will update this message as conditions change.
