We believe there is a possibility of flooding of land adjacent to The Sea Life Centre and on the Preston Beach Road area of Lodmoor. Shingle on the road can become hazardous to vehicles. Waves are forecast to overtop sea defences at Preston Beach Road with sea spray expected during high water at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday 13/02/2020. Tide times are in local time and refer to high water at Weymouth Tide Gauge, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We believe there is a possibility of flooding of land adjacent to The Sea Life Centre and on the Preston Beach Road area of Lodmoor. Shingle on the road can become hazardous to vehicles. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Coastal conditions are expected to improve slightly for Thursday evening, however, a significant deterioration will follow with the arrival of storm Dennis at the weekend. The following Flood Warnings will remain in force for two hours following the times of high tide. Flooding may already be affecting properties, low lying areas and roads. There may be significant spray and shingle overtopping affecting the coast road. Based on the current forecast, criteria for a flood warning may be met from 0530 tomorrow morning the 9th December. The high tide, and forecast wave height mean that flooding is predicted to occur. Total tide and wave height are predicted to meet or slightly exceed the flood warning criteria for 2 hours from 0530 tomorrow.

This warning is in place for Preston Beach, Weymouth with tides at their highest between 7:30pm and 9:30pm today Friday 12th October. Flooding may occur along Preston Beach road. Large waves and spray mixed with shingle are likely so take care near coastal paths and promenades. The highest forecast water level including waves is 4mAOD, this is 3.34 metres above astronomical tide level. The forecast wind direction is SSW and the forecast wind strength is Force 7. Coastal conditions should ease for Saturday's high tides, however we are continuing to monitor the situation.
