Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at The Sea Life Centre and the Preston Beach Road area of Lodmoor. Flooding is affecting The Sea Life Centre and the Preston Beach Road area of Lodmoor from 6:30 PM on 28/03/2024. The forecast is for south-southwesterly force 8 winds this evening. After this tide‚ the weather is more settled and no further impacts are expected. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the expected large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. We are expecting this to cause very large and powerful waves along the coast. A tidal surge will increase the water levels around high water and overtopping of sea defences is possible. Forecast high water is 07:55 on 18/02/18 with a level of 1.84 mAOD and Force 8 south westerlies. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Weymouth gauge. Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the weather conditions. Areas most at risk include The Sea Life Centre and the Preston Beach Road area of Lodmoor. Our incident response staff are in the area and will be checking local defences. Plan driving routes to avoid Preston Beach Road which may be affected by flooding.
