Forecast weather conditions may cause higher waves for an extended period after high water. A 0.54m surge and large waves totalling 4.2m will increase water levels higher than normal. We are expecting a high total water level (including waves) of 5.5mAODN. For information the high tide is at 5.00pm with South Westerly Force 7 winds. Wave period is 16.0 seconds.

Flooding is expected from 8:45am to 12:15pm on 24/01/2026.
Areas most at risk include A354 Chiswell, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane, Victoria Square up to the junction with Queens Road, the car parks along the A354 and the yard along Lerret Road. There is a risk of some larger waves overtopping the beach crest, a handful of waves did breach the beach top overnight. A 0.62m surge and large waves totalling 4.6m will increase water levels considerably higher than normal. We are expecting a high total water level (including waves) of 6.56mAODN. For information the high tide is at 9:15am with South Easterly Force 7 winds. Wave period is 11.9 seconds.

A 0.66m surge and large waves totalling 5.3m will increase water levels considerably higher than normal. We are expecting a high total water level (including waves) of 6.85mAODN. For information the high tide is at 9:21pm with South Easterly Force 8 winds. There is a high likelihood the causeway road will be submerged and may need to be closed between 8pm Friday 23rd January and 1am Saturday 24th January.

A 0.66m surge and large waves totalling 5.3m will increase water levels considerably higher than normal. We are expecting a high total water level (including waves) of 6.85mAODN. There is a high liklihood the causway road will be submerged and may need to be closed between 8pm Friday 23rd January and 1am Saturday 24th January.

A 0.95m surge and large waves will increase water levels considerably higher than expected this evening. We are expecting a high total water level (including waves) of 8.5mAODN at 9:15pm. For information the high tide is at 10:21pm with North westerly Force 8 winds (mAODN is height above average sea level).

Waves are forecast to overtop coastal defences at A354 Chiswell, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane, Victoria Square up to the junction with Queens Road, the car parks along the A354 and the yard along Lerret Road.
Further flooding is expected tomorrow due to higher than normal tides combined with south-westerly force 8 winds and large onshore waves.
We are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with emergency services and local authorities.
