Sea spray overtopping is forecast along the coast as a result of very high spring tides. Forecast high water is 18:30 on 15/11/20 with a level of 6.61mAOD and a Force 5 W wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Chiswell, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Flooding to roads and properties is possible at these times, however conditions may apply one to two hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are A354 Chiswell, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane, Victoria Square up to the junction with Queens Road, the car parks along the A354 and the yard along Lerret Road. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads as large waves could be dangerous and can owners with property flood resilience equipment install it now. This message will be updated Monday, 16/11/20, or as the situation changes.

This warning has been issued for high water on Thursday 13/02/2020 between 09:15 and 12:00. Waves are forecast to overtop sea defences at CHISWELL with sea spray expected as a result of high tides and strong winds. Consequently, flooding is possible for the duration of the strong winds, which will be gusting Force 8 South Westerly. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for A354 Chiswell, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane, Victoria Square up to the junction with Queens Road, the car parks along the A354 and the yard along Lerret Road. We are closely monitoring the situation. Members of the public are strongly advised to keep away from the shoreline as the combination of very strong winds and large waves is extremely dangerous.

Large and powerful waves may overtop sea defences. Consequently, flooding is possible due to strong winds and large waves, between 21:00 on 14/01/2020 and 04:00 on 15/01/2020. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for A354 Chiswell, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane, Victoria Square up to the junction with Queens Road, the car parks along the A354 and the yard along Lerret Road. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closing flood gates and checking defences. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads. Tide times are in local time and refer to the high water time at Portland tidal gauge. Flooding to roads and properties is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for A354 Chiswell, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane, Victoria Square up to the junction with Queens Road, the car parks along the A354 and the yard along Lerret Road We are closely monitoring the situation. Large waves are expected to affect the foreshore as a result of high tides and strong winds. The time and date of the forecast high water is 09:00 on 02/11/2019. The forecast wind strength and direction is Force 9 South Westerly. All tide times are in local time and refer to the time of high water at Portland. Flooding to roads is possible at this time, however conditions may apply one to two hours either side of the high tide. We expect flooding to affect the A354 Portland Causeway and carparks, Brandy Row, Pebble Lane and the Opes. Continuing strong winds will cause spray overtopping for two hours after high water We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued and keep well away from large waves as there is a danger of being swept away or being hit by flying shingle. This flood warning for Chiswell has been issued for high tides this evening, Friday 12th October when the highest levels are expected between 8:30pm and 10:30pm. Spray mixed with some shingle is expected to affect properties and some roads in Chiswell including the causeway. The promenade by the Cove Inn will be particularly affected. Our staff will be on site monitoring coastal defences and will close the gates on the promenade. You are advised to be very careful in this area. The total wave height will be 6.85mAOD which is 5.2m above astronomic tide level. The wind is forecast SSW force 7. Conditions will improve during Saturday afternoon.

Flooding may already be affecting properties, low lying areas and roads. The Causeway between Portland and Wyke Regis may be impassable. Dangerous wave overtopping including shingle is possible.
