River levels are rising steadily on the River Cale due to heavy rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Cale, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour. Flooding is possible at tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour from 11:30 AM on 31/10/2021. The forecast is dry for this afternoon. River levels are rising, and the risk of flooding to low-lying land remains. We are liaising with emergency services and local authorities. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Consider putting your flood plan into action. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 04:00 PM on 31/10/2021, or as the situation changes.

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall on the River Cale due to the overnight heavy rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Cale, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour. No further rainfall is forecast for the next 24 hours. River levels will start to fall, but the risk of flooding to low-lying land remains. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary. Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 11:00 AM on 22/10/2021, or as the situation changes.

Further heavy rain overnight will cause levels in the River Cale to rise and is expected to peak around midnight at Wincanton. Low lying farmland and some roads will flood. The level at the Wincanton A303 gauge is forecast to reach 1.7m above river bed level. Our staff are closely monitoring the situation and will update this message as the situation develops overnight. Avoid walking in flood water which may be deep and fast flowing.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Cale and its tributaries. River levels are forecast to rise at the Wincanton A303 river gauge as a result of the ground being saturated and reacting to further rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 6 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. River levels are forecast to rise at the Wincanton A303 river gauge overnight as a result of heavy rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour. Further persistent rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Consequently, flooding of roads, footpaths and farmland is expected from time of flood alert issue today. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. River levels have risen at the Wincanton A303 river gauge as a result of heavy overnight rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We believe there is a possibility of flooding of the river and the tributaries between Shalford and Southmarsh and the confluence with the River Stour. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. The weather remains unsettled over the next couple of days and further rainfall is forecast. We are closely monitoring the situation and expect river levels to remain high for the next few days. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Persistent rain during Sunday has caused levels to rise, with a peak expected in Wincanton at about 10pm. drivers should take care as minor roads close to the river may well be flooded. More rainfall in the middle of the week will cause levels to rise rapidly as the ground is now saturated.
